Bijukumar Damodaran, known mononymously as Dr. Biju, is an Indian film director. He is professionally a homoeopathic medical graduate. He is now rated as one of the most internationally reputed young film makers from the Malayalam film industry. His films were widely accepted at many international film festivals across the world. Dr. Biju is a self-taught filmmaker. He debuted as writer and director with Saira (2005), an award-winning and internationally recognized achievement. It was the opening film in the section Tous Les Cinemas Du Monde (Cinemas of the World) at the Cannes International Film Festival in 2007. Dr. Biju became the fourth film maker from Malayalam whose films screened at Cannes (others are Shaji N. Karun, Murali Nair and Adoor Gopalakrishnan). Saira also participated in 21 other international film festivals like USA, Brazil, Israel, Russia, Italy, Greece, Zimbabwe, Belgium, Bangladesh etc. The film was also selected at the Indian Panorama 2006. Dr. Biju followed suit writing and directing Raman (2008), his second feature, a controversial and much debated-over socio-political film. Raman was officially selected at Cairo International Film Festival 2009 in the section "Incredible India" and also participated in seven international film festivals across the world. Veettilekkulla Vazhi (The Way Home; 2010) is Dr.Biju's third film.The film got International and National film awards. The film already screened at 18 International film festivals across the world and got India's national film award for best Malayalam film 2011 . Dr.Biju is also known for his bold stands, reactions and writings on cinema and film media issues at various magazines. His articles made many controversies and widely discussed and made a new wave of changes in Malayalam film industry.He served as the jury member at International film festival Kerala 2011.

Dr.Biju is now completing his fourth film titled COLOR OF SKY (AKASHATHINTE NIRAM).The film scheduled to release on February 2012.The film shot at Andaman island with a star cast Nedumudi venu, Indrajith, Prithviraj, Amala Paul etc
